MA09 and MA01 + UK STEM CELL BANK

With EU Orphan designation and a CTA filed in EU, the UK(member state of EU) is familiar with a couple of ACT cell lines. Thought some of you may find it interesting.

I am in the process of obtaining more info, if in fact there is any. Note Roslin Cell has a few lines there also. The MA01 line for those who may not know is also a single blastomere line with embryo not preserved, same class as MA09.
Advanced Cell Technology (ACTC): The following info divides out the ACTC cell

These are lines that have been approved by the Steering Committee for storage and distribution by the Bank. Please contact the Bank for likely release dates.

For the record, I had found this info over a year ago and posted on I-Hub. I felt
with the ACT business plan in Europe and with different items pending there,
it was a good time to bring it up . FWIW, and nothing more, the charging schedule
for a listed company is approx $4000 USD per hESC vial.

Harlem, First and foremost, these are research grade, not clinical grade. Any cells used
in the near future for injections will come from ACT's banking. Secondly, until a person
knows how many cells are in a vial there is no way to respond and until ACT trials prove out
what dosage is needed per injection for best results, it is a moot point...thanks

"Using our clinical-grade hESC lines, we are able to generate a virtually unlimited and reproducible supply of healthy RPE cells. Because only a small number of cells (50-200K) are needed to treat each patient, manufacturing and distribution of the therapeutic product is scalable with many similarities to the drug businesses that pharmaceutical companies understand well."

I e-mailed the UK Stem Cell Bank to inquire whether the ACT Cell lines(MA09-MA01) were available and if not
when they might be. Following is the reply. IMO, this may never be signed with Roslin in the wings.

    Dear Rocky,

    Many thanks for your enquiry.

Those lines are not available from the UKSCB and we don t have an estimation for when they will be released as the relevant legal agreements haven' t been signed yet.

You may find other appropriate line(s) under the list of hESC lines currently available from the UKSCB and i am happy to assist you with this alternative.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Best wishes,

    Iphigenie

Thanks Rocky, I think your opinion is probably correct in this case.

Sort of OT, but have you weighed in anywhere with your thoughts on the CC? I haven't seen anything from you on that topic. Just curious!
